Elegantly designed by Studio Conran, the new iPhone/iPod speaker dock boasts truly outstanding audio performance, beautifully engineered by award winning loudspeaker company Q Acoustics.
The next 'must have' - a streaming dock for a new generation
However, it isn't just excellent looks and a great sound that makes the Conran Dock stand out from the crowd. What makes the new speaker dock a 'must have' is its ability to stream high quality audio from a new generation of smartphones, tablets and other portable devices. How? Because the Conran Dock supports not only standard 'Bluetooth' but also the new advanced 'aptX Bluetooth' audio streaming, which can deliver superior 'CD quality' sound from aptX enabled devices. These include all Apple Mac computers running the latest software (from OS X 10.6.4 onwards), Creative Ziio tablet and forthcoming Samsung portable devices. We expect many more products will be added to the list during 2011.
Of course, if you don't want to stream, or you wish to charge your iPhone or iPod, they can be docked into the unit in the conventional way. Other music sources can be enjoyed via the dock's auxiliary input. Importantly, in addition to creating the great sound, Q Acoustics has incorporated six, simple to choose, audio equalisation settings. These allow the dock to produce its optimum sound in different environments and from variable quality source material.
As well as being aesthetically pleasing, the dock will complement any room setting, Studio Conran's design expertise is obvious in every aspect. Two examples are the illuminated ring around the input selector knob, which changes colour to indicate which source has been selected, and the remote control which fits neatly into the side of the dock when not in use.
As Sir Terence Conran himself says: "It is a dedicated 100% pure music player, that works with docked iPhones and iPods or wirelessly with Bluetooth enabled devices such as the iPad, allowing you to select songs from the comfort of an armchair or, if it's your thing, while dancing around the room."
Sir Terence concluded: "We hope we have created a contemporary design classic."
